Obituary of Mary Von Stetina

Mary Peretz Von Stetina, 95, formerly of Jackson St., Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday evening at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in St. Johnsville, NY. Born in Ukraine on July 4, 1914, a daughter of William and Katherine Peretz. She came to the United States and moved to Amsterdam, NY. She was employed for many years at the former Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills in Amsterdam. She was a longtime and devoted member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She married John Von Stetina who passed away in 1987. Survivors include one brother, John Peretz and his wife Nancy of Garden City, NY. And nephew Craig Peretz of New York City. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mary was predeceased by a brother, William Peretz in 2009. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam with Father Pascal Iannotti presiding. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery in Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 24 Pulaski St. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
