Obituary of Jean A. Christman
Jean A. Christman, 95, lifelong resident of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Rosewood Gardens in Troy, NY. She was born March 27, 1915 daughter of the late Anthony and Sophia Kaminski Alikonis.
Jean was raised in Amsterdam and attended local schools. She was of Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church where she volunteered with the food pantry. She was also a member of the Fort Johnson and St. Casimir's senior citizens clubs.
Jean married John W. Christman, Sr. of Amsterdam on August 19, 1938; following nearly 55 years of marriage he predeceased her July 3, 1993.
Her loving family includes her daughter Carol A. Christman-Ryan of Loudonville, and her two sons John W. Christman, Jr. and wife Thomasine of Kingwood, TX and Thomas G. Christman and wife Elizabeth of Colonie. Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by two brothers Anthony and Frank Alikonis.
Prayer Services will be at 10:15AM on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam with Fr. John Medwid as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to services on Tuesday from 9:15 to 10:15AM at the funeral home.
