Obituary of Charles M. Walsh
Mr. Charles M. Walsh, 74, of Amsterdam, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Gloversville,NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 20, 1942 a son of the late Ralph and Alice Jeanie Gordon Walsh. He was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Charles served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War serving from 1961 until 1969. He was employed as a Truck Driver for the Lee Dye Company in Johnstown and later A1 Water in Schenectady, retiring several years ago. He loved being outdoors, gardening and taking care of his pet dogs.
Mr. Walsh married Evelyn Van Wie Walsh on June 7, 1975, she passed away on October 11, 2010.
Survivors include his children, Sherry Murphy of Montana, Step-son, Robert Cedeno of Montana. Step-daughter, Lisandra Cedeno of Michigan. Six grandchildren, Lacoria Murphy, Derek Cedeno, Cassandra Cedeno, Tera Cedeno, Ashley Murphy and Jonathan Murphy . Four great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, Muriel of Schenectady, Laura Ann of Clifton Park, NY, Ralph Walsh of Virgina and WIlliam Walsh of Amsterdam. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife Charles was predeceased by a daughter Wendy Walsh in 1982 and sisters, Roselyn, Mildred, Edna, Florence, Juanita, Dorothy, Rose Marie. Brothers, Raymond, Ward, Harold and a son- in- law, Chuck Murphy.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Fulton Center for their wonderful care of Charles.
Inurnment of cremated remains will be in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY on Thursday April 27, 2017 at 2:00PM. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
