Obituary of Leslie James Hendricks

Leslie James Hendricks, 91, of Lost Valley Road, Town of Florida, died peacefully Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. He was born in Schoharie, NY May 13, 1919 son of the late John and Emma Marsh Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks was raised in Schoharie and attended schools in that area. He was a veteran of the US ARMY having served in Germany following WWII. It was there that he married the former Kate Loeschenkohl December 13, 1950. The couple came back to the area and resided here until Kate?s death in June of 1985. On June 7, 1986, Mr. Hendricks married the former Dorothy Gurney and resided in the Town of Florida. He worked for Verstandig in Delmar, NY for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #701 and enjoyed fishing. His loving family includes his wife of nearly 24 years Dorothy Hendricks of Amsterdam, his sons Robert Hendricks and wife Christine of the Town of Florida and John Hendricks and wife Cheryl of Colonie, NY, his step-son Peter Dahm of Germany, his grandchildren Eric and Peter Hendricks of Town of Florida, Nicole Rodriguez and husband Nathan of Town of Florida and Jennifer Hendricks of Saratoga Springs and his great-grandchildren Travis Hendricks and Jackson Rodriguez. In addition to his first wife, Mr. Hendricks was predeceased by his daughter Kate Hendricks, step-son Ulf-Walter Dahm, his brothers William, Peter, Gordon, John and Morris and his sisters Elizabeth and Alice. Graveside Services will be at 1:00PM on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Schoharie Lutheran Cemetery in the Village of Schoharie with full Military Honors.
