Obituary of Joyce Close

Mrs. Joyce Close, 78, of Amsterdam, passed away Friday June 11, 2010 at the River Ridge Living Center LLC with her family at her side. Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 24, 1932 a daughter of the late Edwin and Isabel Yund Faber. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Broadalbin and Galway schools. Mrs. Close was a homemaker most of her life and was employed for a time by the former Ward Products and Coleco Industries in Amsterdam. She also worked for a time as a waitress at the Old Homestead Restaurant and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. Joyce enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with her family. Joyce is survived by her husband Paul Close whom she married on September 27, 1953. She is also survived by a daughter, Wendy Riley Bart of Amsterdam. Four sons, Fred Close of the state of Florida, Bill Close of Amsterdam, Paul Close Liz of Amsterdam and Mike Close of the state of Florida. One sister, Patricia Ripepi of Milton, NY. Grandchildren, Jessica Close, Bobby Close, Tina Walden, Thomas Cionek, Amber Close and Michael Close. Great-grandchild, Paige Alexis Lochner. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by a daughter Tina Lee Close in 1970. Joyce was also preceded in death by a sister Donna Sherman and her mother Isabel Nichols. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday June 15, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at the East Galway Cemetery, Welch Rd., Galway, NY. There are no calling hours.
