Obituary of Catherine Picciocca
Catherine Picciocca, 87, formerly of Division Street, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the River Ridge Living Center.
Born in Schuylerville on Feb. 1, 1923, the daughter of the late Sam and Rose Minisci Sirchia. Catherine moved to Amsterdam with her family at the age of one and has lived here since. She worked for a time for Breton Industries until she retired in 1985. A home maker, she loved to cook , bake and sew. Affectionately known as "Kay Kay", her happiest moments were spent with family and close friends. A parishioner of the former St. Michael The Archangel Church, she was a member of the St. Agnello Auxiliary.
On November 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Anthony Picciocca who predeceased her on October 3, 1996.
Her loving family includes her children; Stephen Yvonne Picciocca Sr. of Amsterdam, Richard Kathleen Picciocca of Green Island and Cathy C. Picciocca of the Town Of Glen; grandchildren; Stephen Kathleen Picciocca Jr., Tami Brendan Rhatigan, Dr. Richard Colby Picciocca Jr., Karen Gerard Rhatigan, Timothy P. Picciocca and Teddy Picciocca; great grandchildren; Giovanna, Dominic, Gino, Sean Patrick, Eva Marie, Joel, Siobhan, Jax, Gerard Jr., Ryan and Braedan; her sister, Carmela Gordon Paro of Amsterdam and nieces, nephews and cousins. in addition to her parents, and husband, Kay was predeceased by her brothers, Pvt. Frank Sirchia in WWII and Joseph Sirchia.
A service will take place Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. The Rev. Patricia Bush, officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Community Hospice Of Amsterdam or to WMHT Broadcasting both in care of the funeral home office. Kay's family is most grateful to the staff of the B Wing at River Ridge and Hospice for their care and concern.
