Obituary of Alexandra Semkiw
Amsterdam, NY - Alexandra "Lisa" Semkiw, 89, passed away Monday evening (April 24, 2017) at the River Ridge Living Center where she had resided for over two years.
She was born on October 12, 1927 in Ivano-Frankivśk(Stanyslaviv),Ukraine. She was the daughter of the late Spiro and Anastasia Wiwcharenko Semkiw. She moved to Amsterdam in 1945 after being educated in the Ukraine.
She was first employed by the former Elsie Curran Custom Drapery Company in Amsterdam. In 1957, she moved to Rochester, NY where she worked for Bosch & Lomb until retiring in 1999.
Alexandra enjoyed working in her flower garden and especially taking pride in her hydrangea flowers and taking care of her fruit trees. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews where many times she would go on long walks and share in memories past.
She is survived by her Niece and Nephew, Maryanne and George(Sandy). As well as her grand niece and nephew Gina-Marie and Nicholas. Predeceased by her 3 sisters; Anna, Sonya, and Marta. One brother, John, and her loving nephew Alexander(Lori).
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY. There will be no calling hours.
