I met "Uncle Jack" Memorial day weekend of 1979 at the Long LakeCold river lean-to. I thought I had broken his cooler and was telling Pete Goderie Sr. when it was discovered that it was Pete's.
Uncle Jack came down to the boat and announced that the hat I was wearing was the ugliest hat he'd ever seen, and all of us Long Lakers know where that lead.
I was also very impressed by his lectures on the evils of "Demon Rum" although I don't believe he ever converted anyone.
There was also many golf expeditions that were replayed over and over.
I will truly miss Uncle Jack and I am very proud to have been able to call him my "Friend".

So sorry to hear about JAck's passing. We go back quite a few years. I worked with JAck in Sch'dy and then I Fitchburg MA when he and Barb moved there in 1980. THey convinced us to join the Curling Club in Petershsm and we had some good times together on Bonspiels etc.We also had good times making horseradish together and we would always get a few jars of Uncle JAck's sauerkraut. I still hve his Kapusta recipe and many others. Usually when you were together with JAck & Barb you would always come away with memories of the get together I was also in the Gun Club with JAck and he was always first to volunteer for a project.
The old CB days were fun too. He always took pride in having the most powerful unit.
Probably one of the funniest was his trip to Long LAke for a camping trip. He had a keg of Genny Ale in the back of his boat and it sank the boat out in the lake. Luckily nobody got hurt, just wet.
We have many good memories and he will be dearly missed

I knew Jack from both GE and the Schenectady County Trap League.
At GE he was always readiably identifable with the curved pipe. He was an avid sportman. He competed in the trap league until the end even when it was a chore to hold the shotgun up.Jack will
be missed.

I always respected the work that Jack did for various local gun clubs, even though we sometimes disagreed on the best method of achieving a goal. The suddenness of his passing may have been a blessing. May he rest in peace.

Dear Uncle Jack,
Thank you for the nickname Fresh Air Kid. I will always remember the late night conversations in your den. Watching the wildlife in the forest outside the back of your den and enjoying the Keg. We love you and know you will be watching over us now. Hope we can provide you with some laughter.
Love,

Hi Jack, you old curmudgeon. Why did you have to pass away on me? You were so much fun at work, on the golf course, at Marks and ten other watering holes. Hope to see you at the pearly gates and have another round of golf and a beer. Your friend Paul Koelbel

Uncle Jack, “We hardly knew ye.” Little did I know that one wild night ride on the BAR JACK II on Long Lake 40 odd years ago would be the introduction to my Uncle Jack! The memories, the stories, the life lessons, the drinks and the friendship over the years are just too numerous. You truly helped shape my life and the LLFADC is now missing one its founders. Tears are there, but the happiness of memories overshadow them and that is what I will miss –being able to continue the stories. Your memory will always be with me when I tip a scotch! Long Live Uncle Jack.

Thank you bud. This Genny Cream Ale is for you.

It is very sad to hear the news about Jack's death. I never realized that he was 69 because he always looked and acted so young. He always had a smile and offered me sincere, pleasant greetings whenever we met. I worked with Jack at GE for 20 years until I was laid off in 1986. I then attended the Product Service "antiques" luncheons once each month and he was one of the people that I enjoyed seeing there. God Bless the Keating famiy and friends. Hang on to those fond memories of this outstanding man. I will miss him very much.

My cousin Jack is 13 years older than I. I remember him praising the drawings I made for him when I was 6 or 7. He told a story about the happy Christmas he got his "English" bicycle..he lay in bed and could hear his dad bring it down the hall to put under the tree..the tic/tic of the ratchets in the hub. He got married during the big ice storm of 1964...our dad got us to the wedding and my sister and I had such a good time. His sweetheart, Barbara, died too soon. I know he is with her now and happy again. Goodbye, Cousin "Jacker", from cousin Sue

Uncle Jack, you always made us laugh & feel grown up. Making us Shirley Temples when we visited you for the summer. Taking us on the boat & over the waves, it was scary & fun at the same time. Bringing the snowmobiles all the way to our house so we can ride them in the back yard & helping us get our licenses for them. All the holidays spent together no matter where we were. I will miss you. Love always Kim, Michael, Jeremy & Lindsay.

There are so many memories we shared Jack, Barbara, my husband Archie, and our children. All the holidays and vacations were made more enjoyable with Uncle Jack's ever present humor. I can remember Jack taking my children Kimberly Patricia, and Gregory for a ride on his lawn tractor and snowmobile. Jack and his friend Pete standing in a pond with my kids saying "Here fishy fishy" calling minnows into a net. We shared recipes and Barbara and I taught Jack how to cook Polish dishes. There was nothing as relaxing like drinking Jack's Brandy Alexanders on a cold winter night in Massachusetts. Jack we will ever forget you.

Uncle Jack and Auntie Barbara were a big part of our lives growing up. I remember on Halloween Uncle Jack made the Jack o lanterns on the front porch talk to me and Kim and Greg when we came over in our costumes.Uncle Jack taught us how to make the best eggs Benedict in the mornings when we slept over. We all learned how to snowmobile in their back yard and hit a few shrubs along the way. All of us miss you and will always love you.
