Obituary of Jean D. Clough
Jean D. Clough RN, 85, formerly of Northampton Road, passed away Sunday at the Villa Valencia Care Center in Laguna Hills, Ca. She spent the last two years in Southern California to be close to her daughters where she enjoyed holidays and family gatherings.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Beulah Agnes Hoffman Bower. She was a 1942 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and in 1946, she graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School Of Nursing in Utica. As a registered nurse, Jean was employed for twelve years at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. Taking some off to raise her family, she returned to her nursing career, working for Dr. Blumenberg in Schenectady for eighteen years before she retired in 1989. She was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, it's Episcopal Church Women, and sang in the choir at one time. Jean was also an active member of the Art-Wel & Otsquago Chapter, Order Of The Eastern Star where she served as matron. She was also a Grand Officer for the State Of New York. A member of the Mohawk Valley Chorus, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
On January 25, 1946 she was united in marriage to Russell D. Clough who predeceased her on May 7, 2007. In addition, she was predeceased by her son David R. Clough , a grandson Joshua Clough, and a brother Harry W. Bower.
Her loving family includes her daughters; Paula Steven Tanikawa of Dove Canyon, Ca., Patricia Henry McDermott of Cornelius N.C., and Elizabeth Jack Pakeltis of Dana Point, Ca., grandchildren; Christian, Janel, Kyle, Megan & Micah; great grandchildren Matthew, Andrew and Erin; her brother, John "Jack" Bower of Broadalbin and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Office For The Burial Of The Dead will be read and Holy Communion celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Division St. The Rev. Christopher Smith, rector, officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4-7 pm Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, where the Eastern Star Service will be held at 6 pm. Interment is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at Jean's request to St. Ann's Episcopal Church in care of the funeral home office.
