Obituary of Marylin P. Bylina
Marylin P. Bylina, 77, of Jonathan Lane, Amsterdam died peacefully on August 9, 2010 at home following a valiant battle with cancer. Born in Amsterdam on January 1, 1933 she was the daughter of the late William and Angeline Palamara Gahr.
A lifelong city resident, Marylin was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and worked for Breton Industries as a supervisor for 27 years, retiring in 1990. She also was a homemaker and was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and sewing. She also was a Republican Election Commissioner for Montgomery County and school board elections. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with them. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Her family includes her husband of 59 years, Peter P. Bylina, Jr.; two daughters, Kathleen Izzano and her husband James of Amsterdam, NY and Pauline Dominiak of Amsterdam, NY; one son, Peter W. Bylina and his wife Christina of Bennington, VT; six grandchildren, James Izzano, Marleen Izzano, Lauren Dominiak, Lynae Dominiak, Sophie Bylina, and Carly Bylina. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Marylin was predeceased by her brother William Gahr.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 9:15a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam where her arrangements have been entrusted. Memorial contributions may be made in Marylin's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam or Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home office.
