Obituary of Anna Bobilin Myers

Mrs. Anna Bobilin Myers, 98, of Amsterdam, passed away Wednesday August 18, 2010 at St. Mary s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on February 10, 1912 the daughter of Daniel and Frances Hall Blanchard. She was a life long resident of the area and was a 1929 graduate of Amsterdam High School. Anna went on to receive her Teachers Certification and attended Oneonta Teacher s College and Syracuse University. Anna was employed for many years as a Teacher at the former Snooks Corners, Mill Point, and Auriesville, NY Schools. She also worked as a bookkeeper for her family s business the former Warner Coal and Oil Company in Ft. Hunter NY which later became AGWAY in 1965. She was a dedicated member of the former Ft. Hunter United Methodist Church and the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church. She served on various posts in the church including Secretary of the church board for over 30 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Erie Canal Society, the Iroquois Seniors, 4H Club Leader, Volunteer at the Montgomery County Office For the Aging, Charter member of the Ft. Hunter Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Board of the Ft. Hunter Library and was substitute Librarian for a time. She also worked as a seamstress during World War II and knitted sweaters and socks for the troops. Anna lived a full life and gave of herself tenderly. She loved people and enjoyed traveling around the world including trips to Europe, California, Hawaii, Mexico and various locations within the U.S. One of her favorite pastimes was dining out. She first was married to William Bobilin who passed away in 1975. She later married William Myers who passed away in 1986. Anna is survived by her daughter, Janet Van Buren-Dabney and her husband Dorris of Woodstock, NY. Nieces, Barbara Utter and Muriel Bishop. Nephews, John Blanchard and Frank Blanchard. Several grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by a brother Marcellus Blanchard. Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 21, 2010 at 1:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Nancy Pullen presiding. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday August 21, 2010 prior to the funeral service beginning at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church or to a charity of one s choice both c/o the funeral home.
