Obituary of Beulah M. Zayicek

Mrs. Beulah M. Zayicek, age 89, of Johnstown, died Friday morning, August 27, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born July 15, 1921 in Schoharie County, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Colin. A 1940 graduate of Johnstown High School, she later worked as a bookkeeper at the former Britts Dept. Store in Gloversville, Norgas in Johnstown and at Sunset Heating and Cooling in Gloversville She was married June 21, 1941 to Edward P. Zayicek who died January 6, 1976. Survivors include: four children, Edward J. Zayicek Mary and Jo-Ann Reed James of Gloversville, David J. Zayicek Debbie of Amsterdam and Terri L. Emond Andre of Meco; a sister, Doris Eacker Richard of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Zayicek Merryl, James Zayicek Elizabeth, Brent Reed Melissa, Alan Reed Elizabeth, T. J. Reed Helen, Jami Lynn Zayicek and Zachary Emond; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence "Zig" Zayicek. Mrs. Zayicek was a former member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau, Fulton County Cooperative Extension Services, the Berkshire Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Johnstown Women of the Moose. It was very common to see Beulah reading a good book. Her family was very important to her and she loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, August 30 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 12:00 noon with Deacon Richard Solar officiating. Interment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions maybe made in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Assoc; 440 New Karner Rd; Albany, NY 12205.
