Obituary of Gerry L. Hine

Gerry L. Hine, 58, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Gerry was born December 16, 1951 in Gloversville, the son of Betty Dunham and Joseph Hine. On October 28, 1978 he married the former Janice Bishop, who survives. They enjoyed over thirty-one years of marriage together. Mr. Hine served his country proudly in the United States National Guard. He was employed by Townsend Leather in Johnstown. Gerry had a wonderful sense of humor; always playing pranks and wise-cracking. He was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan. He was a pitcher in the Meco fast-pitch Softball League for several years. Gerry was also very involved in the Little Huskies Football Program and was a coach and board member of the Gloversville Little League. Above all other things, Gerry enjoyed being with his family of whom he was so very proud. He will be very sadly missed by many. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Gerry is survived by a daughter, Jill Kelly Michael of CT.; a son, Mark Hine of Albany; his pride and joy, grandson Owen Kelly; three brothers: Joseph Hine Bernadette of Gloversville, Anthony Hine Lori of Meco and Christopher Hine of Gloversville; three sisters: Nancy Hine of Johnstown, Pamela Schuyler of Gloversville and Janet Cowles Jeffrey of Gloversville; mother-in-law Carole Bishop of Gloversville; two brothers-in-law: Bob Bishop of Gloversville and Chris Krueger of Schenectady; two sisters-in-law: Cindy Krueger-Farley Brian of Gloversville and Arlene Cramer Christopher of TX., several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Walter and Iva Hines; maternal grandparents: Harold and Gladys Dunham and father-in-law Paul Bishop. Family and friends are invited and may call Wednesday, September 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a funeral will be held Thursday, September 2 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Cynthia Van Allen presiding. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
