Obituary of David A. VandeWalker

Mr. David A. VandeWalker, 37 , of Gloversville, passed away suddenly at home on August 31, 2010. He was born in Gloversville on August 23, 1973 and a 1991 graduate of Gloversville High School. David received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Alfred State College and was lastly employed at Lee Dye Corp. in Gloversville. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the N.Y. Jets and N.Y. Yankees. Earlier in his life, David played football with the Colonials and later coached also. Maintaining the close family ties he learned growing up, David always enjoyed his family, especially his nieces and nephews who referred to him as "Uncle Davey". His loving family include his parents, Wellington "Vandy" and Helen Kohler VandeWalker of Gloversville, three sisters: Cynthia Shaun Edwards of Baltimore, MD., Theresa Fickett and her companion Kevin of Gloversville, Bernadette David Hall of Syracuse, and a brother Michael Damarah VandeWalker of Johnstown. David is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Veronica and Joseph Fickett, Abbygail and Johnathon VandeWalker and Bethany Hall. He also leaves his very special German Shepard "Sarge". A prayer service will be held 9:15 am Saturday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville and at 10 am a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main St. Gloversville with the Very Reverend Donald Czelusniak, pastor, as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
