Obituary of Charles H. Chaffin
Charles H. Chaffin, Jr., 54 of Division Street in Amsterdam went to be with the Lord, Wednesday afternoon with his loving wife at his side. He was born October 27, 1955 in Amsterdam, the son of Charles H. Chaffin, Sr. and Martha Ashley.
Chuck was a life time resident of the Amsterdam area and attended local schools. Traveling for a period of time while in the United States NAVY, he returned to Amsterdam and worked construction in the field of Carpentry for the Kubricky Construction Company for a number of years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 701.
He was married to his wife Electa Handy May 1, 1998. He was an avid fisherman. They traveled many places together, sharing with her his love for fishing. He also loved teaching kids how to fish. Along with his soul mate Electa, he enjoyed sharing life and laughter with his family and friends as well as his beloved cat Cricket. He was one to be strong, always hold a smile and a sly prank or joke!
Chuck?s loving family includes his wife Electa Chaffin of Amsterdam, his mother Martha Ashley of Sebring, FL, his children Paul and Cindy Sanders of Plainfield, IL, Mark Sanders of Fonda, NY, Erin and Jason Mabbett of Palatine Bridge, NY; his three sisters, Rita Charles Peters of Amsterdam, NY, Lucy Ronald McCann of Cibolo, TX and Mary Chaffin of Amsterdam, NY. Chuck also has four dear grandchildren, Aimee and Rachel Sanders, Austin Rivenburgh and Mikhail Mabbett. He is predeceased by his father the late Charles H. Chaffin, Sr.
A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 2 to 4 at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Family and friends are invited to call at that time. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chuck?s memory may be made to the New York Oncology Hematology, 1700 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam NY, 12010, or in care of the funeral home office.
