Obituary of Domenica Cutrufello
Domenica ?Minnie? Cutrufello, 94 years old of S. Chase Street, died Tuesday at St. Mary?s Hospital with her family at her side. Minnie was born October 21, 1915, in Giardini, Province of Messina, Sicily, a daughter of Carmelo and Carmela Fugazzotto Marcuccio. She came to the United States in 1949, to Johnstown, where she had since resided. Minnie was a communicant of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Johnstown and a former member of its Rosary Society. She lived for her grandchildren and doted on them until the end. She was known for her daily walks where she met many friends along the way. Minnie had been employed by the former Sutton and the former Gates Mills glove shops, retiring many years ago. She had also worked as a Midwife when she returned to Sicily from Rome.
Her first husband, Guiseppi Cannata died in 1943. He was working at Vatican City at the time of his death. She then married Steve Cutrufello in 1949 who died in 1981. Minnie is survived by her daughter Ellie ?Elena Cannata? Mack and her husband Richard of Perth, 3 grandchildren: Debra A. Bechtold and her husband Mark of Middleburgh, Christine A. Patterson of Amsterdam and John J. Mack of Nelliston, great grandchildren: Ryan Elliot and Cameron Alexander Bechtold, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her many relatives in Sicily and in other regions of Italy. She was predeceased by a daughter Carmelina Cannata, a son Guiseppi Cannata, her sister Antonina Mauro and two brothers, Giovanni and Carmelo Marcuccio.
Funeral services will be held 9:00am on Friday, September 10, 2010, at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 10:00am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 until 7:00pm at the funeral home.
