Obituary of Paul Garrett Ward
Paul Garrett Ward, 57, of the Town of Broadalbin, passed away unexpectedly after being stricken at his home on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.
Born July 18, 1953 in Somers Point, New Jersey, he was the son of the late William F. and Beverly Garrett Ward. He moved from Gloversville to Broadalbin in 1967. Paul was a Broadalbin Central High School graduate of 1971.
He was employed as a shipping supervisor for Universal Distributors in Gloversville for 28 years and later for Finkle Distribution in Johnstown.
Paul was a member of the Son's of the American Legion Post #337 of Broadalbin.
His grandson, Brayden, was his joy and he loved his sons, Garrett and Mark. Paul was a great host and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
On May 25, 1974 he married the former Janet Carpenter. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark C. Ward Amy of Broadalbin; a grandson, Brayden Garrett Ward; four brothers, William Jeffrey Ward Sherrill of Newark Valley, NY; Christopher Ward Sandra of Broadalbin; Bart Ward Marjorie of Broadalbin, and Michael Ward of Broadalbin; a sister, Michelle Hinkle Alan, formerly of Fonda; a brother-in-law, John Gottbehut of Johnstown; two sisters-in-law, Carol Carelli Vincent of Amsterdam and Gale Emmett of Atlanta, GA; best friends, Tom and Lucy Brown of Baldwinsville, NY; Dean and Lynda Spencer of Broadalbin, and Susan Argotsinger of Broadalbin. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his son, Garrett W. Ward, who passed away in 1998, and his sister, Carla Gottbehut.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family at the Hagaman Cemetery in Hagaman, NY. To honor Paul's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's memory to the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.Box 295, Broadalbin, NY 12025.
