Obituary of Dorothy E. Ulman

Mrs. Dorothy E. Ulman, 85 of Clinton Road, Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgeport, CT on January 16, 1925 she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Hovan Dirgo. Mrs. Ulman was employed by General Electric for a time before becoming a homemaker. She gave selflessly of herself to her family. She was very active in local and state P.T.A. and was a woman of faith. In 2005 she relocated to Canajoharie with her husband of 65 years, Arthur E. Ulman, Sr. to be closer to family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include, her husband, Arthur; children, Arthur E. Ulman, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Canajoharie, NY, Mary Bishop of Shelton, CT and Anne Ulman John Allen of Wolfboro, NH; one brother, George J. Dirgo of Shelton, CT; five grandchildren, Kara Mastin and her husband Ronald, A. Edward Ulman, Jeffrey Bishop and his wife Marissa, Zach Murray and Adelaide Murray; five great grandchildren, Kimberly Ulman, Heather Ulman, Stephen Ulman, Kayla Mastin and Ryan Mastin; her dear friend and caregiver, Mary Lucy Gomes; and several nieces and cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain with the Rev. James E. Clark as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited and may call one hour prior to the Mass beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Canajoharie. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mountain Valley Hospice or Our Lady of Hope Parish in care of the funeral home office.
