Obituary of Gertrude F. Frisch
Gertrude F. Frisch, 91, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 4, 1919, she was the last surviving child of the late Lewis and Genevieve Hodder Ford. Educated in the Gloversville School system, she lived in Perth for most of her life. Gertrude worked for the Amsterdam Printing Company as a mail clerk, and then later, seasonally worked for the NYS Department of Taxation & Finance.
She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam and the Women of the Moose in Johnstown. In her early days she loved to travel and play bingo.
She married Oscar R. Frisch Sr. in 1938. That union lasted for fifty three years until his passing in 1991.
She leaves her sons, Oscar and his wife Maureen Frisch of Amsterdam and Paul F. Frisch Sr. of Gloversville; grandchildren, Wendy Owens, Paul Frisch Jr., and Justin Frisch; great grandchildren, Matthew, Hayden, Riley, Lily and Adeline; nieces and nephews.
Her siblings: Lewis, Edwin and Richard Ford and Gloria St. Louis also predeceased her.
Her family would like to thank the caring staff at the Wilkinson Center and Community Hospice for all that they've done for her.
Services are at the convenience of the family at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue with the Rev. William T. Hodgetts Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours and, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to her beloved Trinity E.L. Church in care of the funeral home office.
