Obituary of Doris G. Eacker

Mrs. Doris G. Eacker, 76, of Barclay Street, Canajoharie, NY completed the circle of life, and cocooned in the love of family, died peacefully on September 21, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Fort Plain, NY on August 31, 1934 she was the daughter of Earl and Avis Chamberlain Eckert. Doris worked for many years for LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Canajoharie and the Senior Citizens Center in Fort Plain. Doris enjoyed double deck pinnocle and watercolor painting. She especially looked forward to the Chamberlain Family Reunion each summer. She enjoyed attending events involving all her many grandchildren. She cherished the many family outings including hot air ballooning, horseshows, tractor pulls, train and boat rides and most of all moose hunts! She enhanced our lives while here and will surely be fondly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Homer Buddles and Dorr Eacker; her brothers, Loren Eckert and Earl Eckert, Jr.; one sister, Verna Ingalls; one stepson, Lest Buddles; and one great grandbaby, Elizabeth Shea Whitbeck. Til we meet again, survivors include her children, Gerald Eckert of Canajoharie, NY, Beth Whitbeck and her husband Walter of Granville, NY and James Buddles and his wife Carol of Amsterdam, NY; six grandchildren, Michelle and her companion Emil, Jason and his wife Rebecca, Matthew and his wife Angel, David, Joshua and his wife Rebecca, and Jessica and her companion Will; six great grandchildren, Ceiarah, Noah, Lilly, Anela, Aidan and one on the way in May 2011. Stepchildren include Homer Buddles and his wife Susan, Gary Buddles and his wife Linda, and step daughters in law, Gail, Joyce and Pat. Several step grand and great grandchildren. Her four sisters include, June Flint of Fort Plain, NY, Frances Bruce of St. Johnsville, NY, Waona Martin and Edith Peck, both of Gloversville, NY; Many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Service of Joy and Remembrance will take place on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 12 noon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 36 Lydius Street, Fort Plain, NY with Pastor Kenneth Dingman presiding. A celebration of life for friends and family to follow at the Senior Citizens Center, 204 Canal Street, Fort Plain, NY. Burial will be private and will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Loyal Order of the Moose of Canajoharie in care of the funeral home office.
