Obituary of Evelyn Hinderliter

Evelyn Hinderliter, age 87, of Gloversville passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She was born in Strattenville, PA on March 19, 1923 the daughter of the late Albert and Nancy Sleppy Chapman. On June 11, 1939, Evelyn married Rev. Fred E. Hinderliter. They shared 57 years united in marriage until his passing on November 24, 1996. Evelyn worked for the former Coleco Industries in Gloversville, NY for several years as well as a Home Health Aide for several more years. In addition to working at Coleco and as a Home Health Aide, Evelyn was also a Pastor's wife for many years. She enjoyed listening to her books on tape and crocheting. Evelyn enjoyed her years living at Petoff Gardens in Vails Mills, especially playing Scrabble and Skip-Bo with the other residents. She will be missed by all who knew her. Evelyn is survived by four sons: Larry Hinderliter JoAnn of Dunnelon, FL, Dean Hinderliter Alice of Broadalbin, NY, Fred Hinderliter Sharon of Madison, NY, James Hinderliter Karen of Ephratah, NY, three daughters: Terri Monk Richard of Canajoharie, NY, Sharon Major Larry of Brushton, NY and Wanda Antos Ron of Perth, NY. Additional survivors include a sister, Betty Birchfield, 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, as well as three grandchildren: Jet, Troy and Melissa. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday September 23, 2010 at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home; 85 West Main Street; Broadalbin. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 24, 2010 at the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Schenectady; 2105 Curry Road; Schenectady, NY 12303 with the Rev. Larry Major Sr. officiating.
