Obituary of Rose M. Botch

Mrs. Rose M. Botch, formerly of Division Street, died Sunday at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. She was born February 26, 1925 in Amsterdam, a daughter of Peter and Fortunata Nasso Carriola and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. Mrs. Botch managed the cafeteria at the Navel Depot. She also, along with her husband, ran the former Red Rose Catering Service and Botch's Confectionary, both of Amsterdam. Mrs. Botch was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Sofia Society, the Columbiettes and St. Agnello's Auxiliary. Rose taught religion at the St. Mary's Institute after school program. Her life was dedicated to her entire family. Rose married Alfred C. Botch on October 5, 1947. He died June 18, 1987. She is survived by her daughter Carole Barber of Amsterdam; two brothers, John Carriola of Amsterdam and Danny Carriola of Johnstown; her sister, Josephine Greco of Amsterdam; three grandchildren, Kelly Louie Garcia of Saratoga, Dr. Michael Hoyt of Oakland, CA, and Shanon Erich Kress of Galway; two great grandchildren, Sydney Rose Kress and Riley Stephenson Kress; nieces, nephews and cousins. Rose was also predeceased by her brother Carmen Carriola. Funeral services will be held 8:15am Wednesday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 until 7:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
