Obituary of Jane H. Furman
Jane H. Furman, 86, of Union St. Amsterdam, passed away Saturday October 2, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Schenectady, NY on June 16, 1924 a daughter of the late John and Helen Rostowski Ratynski. She was raised in Schenectady and attended the former Mount Pleasant High School.
Jane worked for a time at G.E. in Schenectady and at the former Electro-Metrics in Amsterdam. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Horace J. Inman Senior Center, the P.A.V. Auxiliary and the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Bingo and being with her family and friends.
She married John Furman on August 12, 1945 he predeceased her on February 18, 2002.
Survivor's include two daughters, Gloria Furman of Clifton Park and Patricia Landwehr Daryl of Amsterdam, NY. Six grandchildren, Deborah Smith, Kenneth Smith Judith, Jennifer Smith Paul Webler, Tiffany Turnbull Michael Grady, David Turnbull Shelby and Alison Turnbull Danny Rivera. Great-grandchildren, Craig, Alyssa, Rebekah, Camber, Danica, Ashley, Brandon and Owen. Sister-in-law, Esther Ratynski. Her good friend Sadie Twardzik. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and her pet cat Susie. Jane was predeceased by three brothers, John, Edward and Edmund Ratynski and Sister-in-law, Clara Ratynski.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 5, 2010 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Main St. Amsterdam with Father John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday October 4, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be mad to the Alzheimer's Association of NENY c/o the funeral home office.
