Obituary of Frances Luzen Karutis

Mrs. Frances Luzen Karutis, 94, of Village Drive, Pompano Beach, Florida, Formerly a resident of Glenville and Amsterdam NY passed away peacefully Sunday October 3, 2010 at her home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on Nov. 13, 1915, a daughter of Anthony and Constance Kiskis Luzen. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Frances worked in the payroll department for both Mohawk Carpets and later Mohasco Corp. in Amsterdam. She last worked at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, also in payroll. She married Benedict A. Karutis on Nov. 29, 1941. He passed away on August 24, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Gaffney and her husband Dick of Keene Valley, NY. One sister Jane Karbocus Anthony of Amsterdam, NY. Two grandchildren, Nicholas Gaffney Emma Wunsch of Lebanon, N.H. and Maria Gaffney of Craftsbury Common, VT, and two great-grandchildren, Georgia and Dahlia Gaffney. Sister- in-law, Ruth Karutis of Amsterdam. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by a sister Bridget Rokitowski. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday October 8, 2010 at 12:15 PM at St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY with Father Pascal Iannotti presiding. Calling hours will be held at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam on Friday October 8, 2010 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon.
