Obituary of Garrison Seelow

Mr. Garrison "Gary" Seelow, 85, of Gloversville, NY, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Mr. Seelow was born February 18, 1925, in Gloversville; his family originated in Bleecker, NY Gary graduated from Gloversville High School and became an established licensed plumber. He was self-employed nearly his entire working career, Proprietor of Seelow's Plumbing, Heating, and Electrical Contracting of Gloversville, NY. He served on the Gloversville Zoning Board of Appeals from 1987 to 2009 and the Gloversville Examining Board of Plumbers from 1995 to 2009. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hiking, and his wood stove fires. Survivors include his children: Jean Jimmy Williams of Fonda, NY, Jerry Gail Seelow of Washington, DC; Lynn Gary Claburn of Fort Hunter, NY; Carol Darryle Brown-Lanza of Mayfield, NY; Rebecca John Terleckey of Fort Johnson, NY; Robert Michele Seelow of Johnstown, NY; Nicole Seelow-Thommen of Portland OR; Tammy DaveMcCue of Gloversville, NY; Anthony Compagnone of Johnstown, NY; Ralph Debby Compagnone of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grand children. Gary was united in marriage April 13, 1963 to Evelyn Daum Seelow; they shared 39 years of marriage until she was laid to rest in December of 2002. Gary was also pre-deceased by his mother Anne Seelow of Gloversville. His family would like to thank the director of nursing services and entire first floor staff of the Johnstown Wells Nursing Home Facility for their kindness and compassion and also Dr. Erika Wachtmeister of St. Mary's Hospital. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Saturday October 9, 2010 at 12:00pm- 2:00pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of calling hours at 2:00pm with the Pastor Robert Bob Seelow of the New Covenant Community Church - Johnstown officiating. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Psalm 103 and verse 8, "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy."
