Obituary of Bruce Gardinier

Bruce Gardinier, age 61, of Gloversville passed away on Monday October 11, 2010 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. He was born in Amsterdam, NY on September 19, 1949 the son of Floyd Gardinier and the late Dora Roberts Gardinier. On April 29, 1995, Bruce married the former Carol Johnson. They have shared 15 years united in marriage. Bruce served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. Bruce proudly served as Air Traffic Controller for Cam-Ranh Bay in Vietnam. Following his four years of active duty in the Air Force, Bruce served in the Air National Guard for over 20 years where he was stationed at the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia, NY. Bruce also served the state of New York for 24 years as a State Trooper. He was an Investigator for the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Additionally, Bruce was working as a New York State Police Investigator Consultant to the Governor of New York State. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the B&K Hunting Club. Bruce enjoyed golfing and boating. He felt at home while boating on the Great Sacandaga Lake for years. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Sparky, W.O.W. friends and all who knew him. Bruce will be a Trooper forever. Bruce is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carol Johnson Gardinier as well as four children: Jason Gardinier Jess of Johnstown, Katie Alkinburgh Rob of Gloversville, Kelly Carney Scott of North Carolina and Stephen Craig of Syracuse. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Kayden, Brody and Peyton. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday October 14, 2010 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 15, 2010 with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville with Military Honors. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bruce to the Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, 22 North Main Street, Mayfield, NY 12117.
