Obituary of Bruce Bennett

Bruce Bennett, 76, of Fort Plain, NY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 14, 2010 at his home. He was born in Albany, NY to parents Robert Owen and Alice Sophia Ahl Bennett. He is survived by four brothers Robert Bennett of Clifton Park, NY Ronald Bennett of Great Falls, MT, Wayne Bennett of Troy and Owen Bennett of Latham. He is the beloved husband of Laurie Daignault Bennett and father of Charles Weeks of Clifton Park, NY, Cass Bennett and his wife Jaime of Buskirk, NY, Dave and Tammy Bennett Dingman and Travis Bennett all of Fort Plain, NY. He is also survived by two grandsons, Cory Bennett of Mechanicville and Ryan Bennett of Stillwater, NY. He is predeceased by a granddaughter Cynthia Doris Bennett and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Bruce served in the U.S. Army as a Senior Army Intelligence Scout for the 8th Cavalry in Germany. He was self-employed most of his life in various occupations. His favorite being a vegetable farmer. He owned and operated his own gas stations, construction company, lawn, garden and farm equipment sales and service. For his hobby he enjoyed racing sportsman modified stock cars at various local tracks during the 50's and 60's. What he wants to be remembered most for is his devotion to always putting his family first which he did quite well. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00P.M. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.The family will have a gathering folowing the service at the American Legion Post 70, 34 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St. Canajoharie, NY.
