Obituary of Ann S. Conte

Mrs. Ann S. "Nana" Conte, 90, formerly of Barber Street, Fonda, NY died peacefully on Thursday, October 21, 2010. Born in Broadalbin, NY on June 12, 1920 she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Starr Goron. A lifelong area resident, Nana graduated from Broadalbin High School and worked for 25 years as a glove maker for Templeton Gloves in Fonda, NY. She was also a homemaker. On August 5, 1939 she was united in marriage to Rocco D. Conte. Together for 37 years, they operated the Wagon Wheel and Central Valley Construction Company until Rocco's untimely death in 1976. Nana will be remembered for her kind spirit and her devotion to her family and her faith. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family includes; her two children, Rocco F. Conte and his wife Judy of North Carolina and Carolyn Reichel of Amsterdam; one sister, Sylvia Sherman of Melbourne, FL; four grandchildren, Cara Pabis, Rocco J. Conte, Melana Devereux and Jaclyn Sculco; seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and two nieces. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 11 o'clock at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway, Fonda, NY with Rev. Patrick Gallagher, OFM Conv. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, where she will be laid to rest, next to Rocco. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 3 until 5p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shrine of Blessed Kateri or GAVAC in care of the funeral home office.
