Obituary of Fredric D. Petteys

Mr. Fredric D. Petteys, 71, of Johnstown, NY died Sunday October 24, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital with his loving family at his side. Fredric was born on December 27, 1938 in Cambridge, NY and was the son of the late Harold and Alice McLean Petteys. Fredric was predeceased by his brother Colin Petteys. Fredric was a graduate of Greenwich, NY High School and was an outstanding school athlete having played baseball, basketball and football. He later played in a semi-pro baseball league. He was the Manager of the A & P grocery store in Greenwich, NY and later became an independent cattle dealer where he met his life long friend Dominick Snooky Cuomo. Lastly he was the proprietor of Johnstown Livestock Sales. Mr. Petteys is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Petteys. His son David Jay D.J. Petteys and wife Jennifer of Ft. Plain. He has two grandchildren, Chance Jay and Caitlyn Ann Petteys. Fredric would do anything for his grandchildren and enjoyed going to their athletic events. He enjoyed riding his ATV with Chance Jay, spending time with his dog Baron and sitting on his porch. He was the inspiration to his wife's gardening and care of flowers. Fredric "Poppa" was known for showing a big heart and giving anything for his grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catherine J. Wilder Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Canajoharie Central School District, Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter and the Montgomery County S.P.C.A. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday October 26, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 27, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. John Califano presiding. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY.
