Obituary of Ruth L. Tallman Wheeler

Ruth L. Tallman Wheeler, just four days shy of her 92nd birthday passed away peacefully Thursday evening October 28, 2010, at her home. Born November 1, 1918 in Epsom, NH the daughter of the late Wesley J. and Hattie Mae Brown Tallman. In 1928, she and her family moved to a farm in Currytown, NY. She attended grade school in Epsom, NH then onto the Currytown School, and Canajoharie Highschool. She worked in the Gum Department of Beechnut in Canajoharie until her marriage in 1948. She resided in Randall, NY since the early 1940's until her passing. She was a member of the Randall Reformed Church and played the piano for church and Sunday School for many years. Among her passion for playing hymns on the piano she also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and cross word puzzles. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, she was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed all nature and allowed "pets of all sorts" to the delight of her children. Ruth married David William Wheeler January 4, 1948, this union lasted a beautiful 46 years until his passing on their anniversary, January 4, 1994. Survivors include her loving children, Mark L. Wheeler of Randall, NY, and a daughter Jane M. and her husband Philip Hawkins of Buel, NY as well as grand daughters Rebecca and Erika Hawkins also of Buel, NY. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Having come from a large family, she is predeceased by two step sisters Clara and Lucinda. She is the youngest of her siblings, and predeceased by brothers, Howard, Laurence, Carroll, Russell, Ray and one sister Eleanor Lyons Blunck. She was also predeceased by a son David Wesley Wheeler in 2004. Funeral Services for Ruth will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 2 PM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street Fultonville, NY 12072. Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 1 PM. Rev. Miriam Barnes officiating. Followed by burial in Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ruth's Memory may be made to the Mid-County Ambulance Corp. or to the Ayers Memorial Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home office.
