Obituary of Kenneth A. Deer

Kenneth Deer, 64, of State Highway 30A Fonda, passed away Tuesday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, in Amsterdam after a long illness. He was born May 18, 1946, in Gloversville, NY to the late Howard and Mabel Shaver Deer. Ken is a life time resident of the area and attended local schools. He was employed by General Electric in Schenectady as a welder for many years until his illness kept him from working. He was a member of the Fulton County Car Club and loved to work on cars. He owned a 66' Thunderbird he and his wife enjoyed taking rides in as well as a 55' Chevy that he has collected all the parts and pieces to remodel. Ken also liked to listen to 60's music. Most of all his passion was his family. His loving family includes his wife Brenda Miller Deer, they were united in marriage July 29, 1967 and shared 43, loving years together. His daughter Rose Rivera, grandchildren Evelyn Rose and Learum Watkins, and a sister Florence Bartlett of FL. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother Howard Deer, sisters Virginia Nellis and Dorothy Rockwell and a special nephew David Deer. Funeral services for Kenneth will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 12 O'clock at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street Fultonville, NY 12072. Pastor Brett Popp will preside over the services. Family and friends are invited to visit from 11 until 12 before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home office.
