Memories are too many to begin listing. I did not know Susan until high school and haven't seen her since, but it doesn't seem like 57 yrs ago. It saddened me to hear of her passing. Some events are still so vivid in my mind. Of course, I still see her as she looked in 1956...vibrant, intelligent, with such beautiful features and hair. My thoughts are with her family.

Living at the corner of Coolidge and Romeyn, I lived 2 blocks away from the Glen and Romeyn area, where Susan and other friends lived. Many of us went through 12 years of school together. I have many fond memories of Susan, her smile and being in many classes with her. I was saddened to hear of her passing and she will be sorely missed by family and friends.

The Class of '56 has lost one of its fairest and brightest members. Our friendship dates to Academy Street schooldays where her patented smile, warm demeanor and academic abilities were appreciated by all her classmates.
We send our deepest sympathy to Jack, David and Fritz for their loss.

My fondest memories of Susan are when she, Grace and I worked at Wiawaka in Lake George the summer after our Junior year in high school. So many laughs about our first job! After our 50th class reunion, she and I thought it would be nice to get together again with our classmates the following year. As a result, we've had yearly mini- reunions at Wiawaka with some of the "girls". We've been able to renew our friendships, which has been thoroughly enjoyable for each of us. We'll miss Susan very much! Deepest Sympathy to her loved ones from my husband Don, Sue's former childhood neighbor, and me.

The memories I have of Susan, from early childhood to high school are many. We shared together in numerous activities from grade school to high school, in the choir and youth group at Trinity Reformed Church and many social organizations. She was a warm and caring classmate. The McKay house was the gathering place in the neighborhood. I lived across the street from the McKay’s on Romeyn Ave. Many hours were spent at the McKay house with Susan, Jack and David watching the early TV shows and the cowboy and Indian movies, on the first TV in the neighborhood, thanks to the generosity of Grandpa Shuttleworth. Although separated by time and distance over the years, the fond memories from the early days growing up in the Romeyn and Glen Ave neighborhood on Market Hill endure. My sincere condolences are with the McKay family at this time.

Dear Jack, Dave and Fritz,
Please accept our deepest sympathies.
I, too, have many happy memories of Susan through the years.
After Herbie and I were married, Susan would sometimes visit us at 15 Grant and we all would enjoy a few libations and then hot
dogs and beans. We laughed alot !
I was happy to have had lunch with Susan and Grace Warnick on our way to Maine since I was unable to attend the mini reunions. We caught up on all the news !
She was a GREAT girl and we'll miss her.

Susan was special! Her sweetness and sparkle always added to the happy times we shared through all our school years in Amsterdam. I'm grateful for the pleasure of her friendship and the chance we had to reconnect at the AHS 50th reunion and Wiawaka. It is heartwarming to hear of the accolades for fine teaching career.I also remember how much she loved to read. My sincere sympathy to all her family. I hope that beautiful memories of Susan will sustain you in your grief.

I remember Susan very well from Wilbur H. Lynch Sr. High School in Amsterdam NY, Class of 1956. We were part of a loosely-knit crowd that hung out and socialized together. Those Amsterdam days, when Amsterdam was still a properous mill town, are among my happiest memories and I know Susan shared them. After our 50th H.S. reunion, one of our classmates, Barbara White, organized a series of mini reunions at Lake George where many of us had held our first summer jobs, and Susan was part of that. I was happy to reconnect with her and will always remember our long talks. She and her sweet smile will be missed.

I think that Susan and I were in the same class from kindergarten at Arnold Avenue School until the end of 10th grade. I last saw her at a reunion of women from the high school class of '56 in Lake George in 2007. I remember walking home from
Arnold Avenue School with her; I lived just a few blocks away on 70 Romeyn Ave. I also remember playing kickball and jumping rope together at recess. Phyllis Raphael will remember the details of our years together better than I do. At early reunions Sue was sort-of "one of the boys". I feel very sad to hear of her passing and I want to give my condolences to her brothers. Judy Singer Bercuvitz
