Obituary of Theresa B. Tyler
Theresa B. Tyler, 90, formerly of Chopin Parkway, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the River Ridge Living Center. She had previously resided at the Park Hill Adult Home on Grove Street.
Born in Princetown West Virginia on Aug. 18, 1920, she was the daughter of Carl and Ersell Byrd Belcher. During World War II, she met her future husband John W. Tyler in Baltimore. Following their marriage on Feb. 2, 1946 they moved to this area. Theresa began her career as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone. After taking time off to raise her family, she returned to the same company and retired in 1981. A parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, she was a member of it's seniors. Early on she assisted as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and Brownies of which her children were members. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and graciously hosted their annual summer gatherings at her camp in Galway. Tess loved to garden and spend time with her family, and truly was an animal lover. Sadly she lost her husband on January 2, 2002, as well as her grandson Patrick Tyler Sept. 29, 2006.
Her loving family includes her children; Cynthia Bill Fendsack of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Richard Linda Tyler of Amsterdam, Robert Christine Tyler of Hagaman and Thalia Steven Velicky of the Town Of Florida; grandchildren; Josh and Justin Velicky, Christopher and Sean Tyler, Johanna and Scott Johnson, Jeff, Tim and Matthew Tyler; great grandchildren; Christian, Jordan, Mya, Ava, Sophia, Paige, Dylan, Chase, Anthony, Joey, Natalie, Jonathan and Randall. .
A brother; Robert Betty Belcher of Huntington, W.V.; and nieces and nephews.
Services are Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church. Fr. John Medwid, pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service from 9:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Montgomery Co. Office For Aging in care of the funeral home.
