Obituary of Luella VanNostrand

Luella VanNostrand, age 89 of Gloversville, passed away on Sunday November 7, 2010 at home. She was born in Gloversville on February 28, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank E. and Sarah Swart Schermerhorn. On December 17, 1943, Luella married Chauncey VanNostrand and they shared 47 years united in marriage until his passing on March 16, 1991. Luella is a former member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Gloversville. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "bridge" at the Ida McGinnis Senior Center. She was a volunteer with the Big Brothers-Big Sisters in Gloversville for many years. Luella enjoyed reading and loved her animals, especially her cats. Most of all, Luella enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the family dinners, which were scheduled for every Thursday night. Luella is survived by two sons: Michael VanNostrand Linda of Leesburg, FL, Eugene VanNostrand Susan of Gloversville, NY, three grandchildren: Joshua and Daniel VanNostrand, Jessica Rodriguez Jaime, a great grandson: Darion Rodriguez and a sister Mildred Hoffmann. Friends and relatives are invited and may call fro 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 10, 2010 at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. The funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made in memory of Luella to the James Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
