Obituary of Stella W. Crocetta

Stella W. Crocetta, 96, of South Daytona, FL, formerly of Gloversville, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Mountain Valley Hospice after a short illness. She was born May 8, 1914, the daughter of the late John P. and Josephine Bien. She was married to the late Roman Crocetta for forty seven years, who died in August, 1983. Self employed, she owned and operated her own laundry and dry cleaning business until her retirement. Stella was a former member of Sacred Heart Church before moving and was a member of Epiphany Church in Florida. She was a former member of the Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church and also a former member of the Sacandaga Boat Club. Stella enjoyed Bingo, traveling and playing Bonko while in Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Crocetta Hackert of Gloversville, with whom she resided for a time before requiring nursing home care. She is also survived by her grandson, Brian M. Hackert Kelly of Gloversville. Other survivors include a nephew, Robert Insognia Claudia of Gloversville and other nieces and nephews, and two special children in her life, Chelsea and Evan, who gave her great joy. In addition to her parents, Stella was predeceased by a sister, Helen Insognia; two brothers: John P. Bien and Thaddeus Bien; a nephew, Gary Bien and son in law, Richard J. Hackert. Family and friends are invited and may call Monday, November 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 23 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main Street, Gloversville with Reverend Rendell Torres as celebrant. Interment will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. Donations may be made in Stella's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
