Obituary of Abraham Rodriguez

Abraham Rodriguez, 57, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Monday, November 22, 2010 at Albany Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1953 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Domingo and Maria Rivera Rodriguez. As a small child Abe moved to Amsterdam, NY and has been a life time resident. He attended local schools. He was employed by Latham Plastics in Scotia NY until his illness no longer allowed him to work. He was married to Margarita Arrufatt on July 19, 1986, they shared a beautiful union of 37 years. Abe loved to be outside, riding his bike, fishing or just enjoying nature. He was an avid sports fan, and especially liked to watch the 49'ers and NASCAR. He was a family man and known by all "showing off". He especially enjoyed spending time with his Grandson. His loving family includes his wife, Margarita Rodriguez, a daughter Shania Rodriguez of Amsterdam, his pride and joy, grandson Gavin Thomas Phillips, brothers, Hector, Dixon, Harry and Charlie Rodriguez; sisters, Virginia Cerdas, Rebecca Hernandez, Ruthie Hidalgo, Zulma Shalash and Naomi Lee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by one brother, Aramy Rodriguez. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11 AM at Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. Family and friends will be invited to visit one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 10.
