Obituary of Esther T. Constantine
Esther T. Constantine, 95, formerly of Locust Avenue, Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born on August 3, 1915 she was one of 18 children to Enrico and Amelia Leonetti Bianchi.
A lifelong city resident, Esther attended city schools and worked for the former White Stag Company of Amsterdam as a glove and coat maker. A devout woman of faith, she was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. It was there that she was united in marriage to Anthony Constantine on August 6, 1944. That union lasted 33 years until his untimely passing on November 12, 1977. She was also a member of St. Anthony's Auxiliary, the Third Order of St. Francis and the Rosary Altar Society.
Survivors include her children, Charles "Chuck" Constantine and his wife Carol and Rosemary Constantine of Amsterdam; two sisters, Louchie Bianchi of Amsterdam and Anna Famiano of Schenectady, NY; brother-in-law Joseph and Gilda Constantine; three sisters-in-law Mary Constantine, Joanne Constantine and Mary Bianchi;2 step grandchildren, Tim Toman and his wife Lisa and Michelle Toman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 4 until 7p.m. at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street, Amsterdam. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Esther's name may be made to the church, GAVAC or the charity of choice all in care of the funeral home office.
