Obituary of Nancy J. Parker
Nancy J. Parker, 72, of Amsterdam, passed away Thursday at St. Mary s Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on August 23, 1938, a daughter of Hector and Elsie Parker. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended local schools. She was a 1956 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Nancy was a life long learner and took classes at a nearby college in various disciplines.
Nancy worked for many years in a variety of capacities. She was employed by Key Bank in Amsterdam. She worked at the former Amsterdam City Hospital and later worked of the General Electric Company in Schenectady for over 14 years until she retired to pursue developing her many interests.
In her youth, Ms. Parker enjoyed entering marathon running events and loved to ride her horse. Once retired, she became an accomplished artist in water colors and sculpting. She was a member of the St. Stanislaus Church Artist and Painters Club in Amsterdam. Nancy was also an advocate and participant in Pet Cat Rescue as well as training her Border Terrie Pip for Earth Dog Competitions . She attended and helped at various dog shows.
Nancy is survived by relatives and friends. Joseph and Patricia Prisk of Schenectady, NY., invite you to a Service of Remembrance which will be held on Saturday December 18, 2010 at 10:45A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday prior to the service beginning at 10:00A.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy s memory to the Helping Paws Rescue, 140 Old State Rd., Broadalbin, NY 12025. Interment will be private.
