Obituary of Dorothy M Hurd

Dorothy M. Hurd, 94, of Hagaman, NY passed away peacefully at her home Friday evening with her loving family at her side. She was born May 27, 1916 in Gloversville, NY, to the late Earl and Jennie Miller Staley. Dorothy attended Johnstown Schools and was a resident of Gloversville for many years until moving to Hagaman in 2005. She was employed as a glove maker for Cresendoe Glove Company in Johnstown until the late 60's. She was united in marriage to the late Orval J. Hurd in 1935. He passed away in 1975. She was of Roman Catholic faith. She spent most of her time working hard and raising her family. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her loving family includes daughters Joyce Gerald Boles of NC and Charlene Richard Bornt of Hagaman, NY, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brothers Donald and Carlton Staley. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010 and are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Amsterdam Lions Club, in care of the funeral home office.
