Obituary of Ann J. Kumpan
Mrs. Ann J. Kumpan, 85, of Gloversville, passed away Tuesday following a motor vehicle accident. She was born August 7, 1925 in Schenectady, daughter of the late Eugene and Eliza Reynolds Johnson. Ann graduated Mt. Pleasant High School and worked early in her life as a secretary at General Electric Co. in Schenectady. She moved to Gloversville and was a stenographer at the former Fulton County National Bank and Trust Company. On October 10, 1959, she married Rudolph "Rudy" Kumpan, he pre-deceased her in 1991. Ann was very pleased to be a homemaker most of her life.
A devout catholic, Ann first belonged to the former St. Mary's Church and then to Sacred Heart Church. She currently was a member of The Church of the Holy Spirit. A very prayerful person, Ann had unwavering faith. She helped and supported so many friends and family through the years. A very active church supporter, Ann taught first communion class and was a volunteer for the Faith Formation Program. She also volunteered for Friday's Table, Literacy Volunteers and the Life Chain in support of the unborn. She was a long time member of the Rosary Society, and the Social Club, and helped at church rummage sales and various fund raisers.
Active in the community as well, Ann enjoyed many Bridge groups, the Senior Citizens, and her weekly board games with friends. A very caring and loving person, Ann will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her children: Nancy K. Martin and her husband, Dr. Robert Martin, Capt., U.S.N. of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Kumpan and his wife Ann Wheeler of Troy, NY. She is also survived by her sisters: Jane Landauer of Flagstaff, Arizona, Margaret Roraback of E. Lansing, Michigan, Eileen Donlon of Englewood, FL, Marion John MD Flynn of Venice, FL, and Claire Montanye of Scotia and a sister-in-law, Olga Kehoe. Ann is additionally survived by two grandchildren; Nicholas Martin and Tara Martin, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A prayer service will be held 9:15 am Monday at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St. Gloversville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday at The Church of the Holy Spirit, 149 S. Main St. Gloversville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-7 pm. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
