Obituary of Frances M. Devendorf
Mrs. Frances M. Devendorf, of McClellan Avenue, died Monday at River Ridge Nursing Home in Amsterdam. She was born in Meridian, Mississippi, a daughter of Deward and Johnnie Aaron Neal Warren, moved to Tampa, Florida, and then came to Amsterdam at the age of 13. Mrs. Devendorf was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was a member of The United Presbyterian Church and the Mary Martha Circle of the church; and a member and past Treasurer of the Century Club. Mrs. Devendorf had been employed by the former New York Telephone Co. and then by the former Mohasco Industries, both in Amsterdam.
On September 10, 1955 she married E. Clark Devendorf who died May 7, 2005. Mrs. Devendorf is survived by her son and two daughters: Karin A. Devendorf of Baton Rouge, LA, Phillip E. Devendorf of Amsterdam and Amy L. Devendorf of Amsterdam; and her two grandsons, Phillip E. Bouck and Bradley Clark Devendorf. She was predeceased by her three brothers: Deward, Flint D. and Edward Warren.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Thursday, December 23, 2010, at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam, with The Rev. Mack McDonald officiating. There will be no prior visitation or calling period. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made: G.A.V.A.C., P.O.
