Obituary of Clara I. Buanno
Clara I. Buanno Kubran, 93, of Fort Johnson, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam surrounded by her family.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 10, 1917.
As a child, Clara and her family moved from Amsterdam, to Fort Johnson where they began a dairy farm. Clara remained on this land her entire life.
She was married to Henry "Bill" Buanno in 1938. He predeceased her in May 2002.
Clara was instrumental in assisting her husband with the creation and management of Buanno Transportation Company, Inc.
Clara lived a simple life; among her joys were her farm, the outdoors, bird-watching, and the devotion to her family.
She had an open heart to many, especially to her grandson Peter II with whom she shared a special bond.
She was predeceased by brothers William "Bill" and Leon "Leo" Kubran. She is survived by sisters Cecilia Casaburi and Violet Remington. Clara was the loving mother of six children: Carlton, David, Joseph, Marilyn, Ronald and Peter. She will be dearly missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At the request of Clara, there will be no viewing hours. A Catholic mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill on Friday, Christmas Eve, at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.
A special thanks to Doctors Mayer, Cope, Sheridan and Knudsen; the staff of the fourth floor of St. Mary's Hospital; and Community Hospice for the special attention and care that Clara was given in her final days.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Clara's memory to the Montgomery County Office for Aging Meals Program or to the charity of your choice.
