Obituary of Lillian Y. Torres
Lillian Y. Torres, 49, of Grant Avenue, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday.
She was born February 5, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY and she was the daughter of Aurea Torres and the late Victor Oquendo. Lillian attended schools in Brooklyn before moving to Amsterdam. She received her C.N.A. certification through F.M.C.C. Community College.
Lillian was employed as a C.N.A. for St. Mary's Hospital, Mount Loretto Nursing Home and Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
She was a devoted member of the Time for Truth Ministries in Amsterdam.
Lillian loved spending time with her family she also enjoyed reading her bible, crocheting and watching movies.
Survivors include her loving family, two sons, Miguel A. Torres Jr. of Scotia, NY and Gabriel A. Torres of Amsterdam; two daughters, Jessica M. Condrey of Kennesaw, GA and Daisy L. Torres of Scotia, NY, her mother, Aurea Torres of Amsterdam; a sister, Mayra I. Leon of Amsterdam; four grandchildren, Titus, Caleb, Jonas and soon to be granddaughter Karina; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lillian was predeceased by her brother Jose Oquendo in 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Raymond Barnett officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Amsterdam. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10 to 11 am.
