Obituary of Gloria M. Nelli

Gloria M. Nelli, 83, of Pine Street, passed away Monday at the Windgate At Ulster Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Born in Amsterdam on August 15, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Eliff Rowley. Educated locally, she lived here her entire life. Gloria was employed as a creeler for Mohasco and later worked at Beechnut in Canajoharie. A home maker, she truly loved gardening and spending time with her family. She was recognized as an accomplished bowler in the area and played on several leagues including the Sundowners. Gloria was an avid Yankee fan and a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. On July 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to James F. Nelli. In addition to her beloved husband of sixty three years, she leaves her children; twin sons Dennis J. Gail Nelli of Hagaman, Donald K. Kathryn Nelli of Feura Bush, and Mary Lou E. Paul Schmidtmann of Perth; grandchildren; Timothy, Erin, Daniel and John; a brother; Charles Rowley of Queensbury; sister in law Susan Rowley of Amsterdam; and brother in law; Alfred, Peter, Mario, John and Floyd Nelli; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Thomas Rowley and a sister Nora Speanburg. Services are Friday at 9:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church. Fr. Victor Polito, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to the Tribes Hill Vol. Fire Department, in care of the funeral home office.
