Obituary of Lewis D. Tidd
Amsterdam, NY?Lewis D. Tidd Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, New Years day, at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Heath Care Facility. Before residing at Wilkinson he lived in Galway, NY for 40 years.
Lewis was born July 31, 1927 in Vestal, New York, he was the son of the late Lewis D. and Essie A. Perkins Tidd.
He was a truck driver for Fort Edward Express for 21 years until retiring. After retiring he went back driving, for School House Pools Trucking, part time.
Lewis was a US Navy Veteran of WWII where he served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theatre.
He enjoyed spending time with wife Barbara and their family. Lewis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Saratoga, NY.
On January 9, 1963 he married the former Barbara L. Vroman. Besides his wife he is survived by two step-daughters, Cretta D. Burchard and her husband Donald of Gansevoort, NY and Loretta L. Valenta and her husband Tim of Nicholasville, KY; a step-son, William B. Rogers, Jr. and his wife Debbi of Amsterdam; thirteen step-grandchildren; two step- great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lewis was predeceased by two step-sons, Richard V. Rogers and Mark F. Rogers; a step-grandson, Richard V. Rogers and his sister Clara Rolfe.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY. There will be no calling hours.
