Obituary of Frederick W. Woller
Frederick W. Woller, 87, full time resident of Seminole, FL for the past two years, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 at a Hospice House in Seminole, Florida. Fred and his wife Laura still maintained a home in Amsterdam.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y. and he graduated from New York University.
Fred is an Army veteran, having served during World War II in the Army Infantry and Signal Corps in the South Pacific and Japan, attaining the rank of sergeant and receiving the Bronze Star.
Following the war, he worked with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. as an auditor. In 1955, he became a long time resident of Amsterdam, where he completed a long career with the Mohasco Corp., working in a variety of corporate positions.
Fred was a very active in and around the Amsterdam community, serving on the Perth Central School District Board of Education, active with the Boy Scouts of America and serving as treasurer of the Sara Jane Sanford Home for the Elderly Women. He was a 40-year member of the United Presbyterian Church of Amsterdam, where he served as an elder, deacon and treasurer.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Marion Woller; a son, Henry W. Missy Woller of Delmar, NY; four stepdaughters, Diane L. Murray of Seminole, FL, Judith Ann English of Hagaman, Linda L. Felton of Winnemucca, NV and Susan G. Simser of Deland, FL; a stepson, George W. Musolff of Saratoga Springs and two grandchildren, Alicia and Lindsey Woller.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 11:00 am at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Mack Mc Donald officiating. Military honors will follow the funeral service at the church. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 4, 2011, from 5 to 7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Memorial donations may be made in Fred's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corner Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
