Obituary of Vivian E. Farrar

Vivian E. Farrar, age 88, of Johnstown passed away on Sunday January 16, 2011 at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown. She was born on June 16, 1922 in Ballston Spa, NY the daughter of the late Leroy and Edna Williams Lowell. She was educated in the Gloversville School District and worked for some of the area's glove shops and knitting factories until she retired and became a homemaker. Vivian is survived by her 5 children: Stanley Farrar of St. Johnsville, Rosemary Farrar of Mullins, WV, Kathy Hogg of Laurens, SC, Sandra Savage of St Johnsville and Carole Miller of Johnstown. Additional survivors include a brother, Henry Lowell as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by a husband, Robert "Stan" Farrar who passed away on January 8, 1993, two sons, Arthur Smith and Keith Smith, a daughter Mary Young and a brother, Leroy Lowell. Friends and relatives are invited and may call from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the conclusion of calling hours at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kathy Reese officiating. Interment will take place at North Bush Cemetery in the spring.
