Obituary of Daniel P. McKay

Daniel P. McKay, 61, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully January 26, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born August 7, 1949 in Detroit Michigan. He is the son of Leo and Mary Elizabeth Ross McKay. Daniel has been a resident of Amsterdam for almost twenty years coming from Florida. He was enlisted into the United States Army in 1967, while enlisted Daniel received his GED. He was honorably discharged in 1973. He was married to Colleen T. Garbo in 1978 and they shared a loving thirty three years together. Daniel loved music, he enjoyed playing the guitar. He also enjoyed motorcycles. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family includes, his mother Mary Elizabeth McKay, wife Colleen McKay, Sons, Daniel P. McKay II, and Jeremiah Garbo, Daughter, MaryJane Garbo, sister Ann Marie Henk and beloved grand children, Chelsea McKay, Season Faulkner, Savannah Delgado, and Gianna Horwitz, Alexis and Gabriel Garbo. He is also survived by his loving pets, Tessa and Furby. He is predeceased by his father Leo McKay and brother Timothy Keane. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. Funeral services will be private, and interment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
