Obituary of Rexford B. Finster

Rexford B. Finster, 92, of Canajoharie, passed away on January 28, 2011 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. He was born December 30, 1918 in Illion, NY, the son of the late Ray and Lucia Jackson Finster. Rex graduated from Frankfort High school and went on to New York State College for teachers. He was married to Clara Borst, June 6, 1942, their union has lasted a beautiful 68 years. He was enlisted in the United States Army in 1940 and honorably discharged in 1945. He was employed at Grand Union for ten years as manager until going to work at Beech Nut, he worked there for thirty four years until his retirement in 1986. He is of Lutheran faith and a member of St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was also a former member of the Industrial Bowling League in Canajoharie. His loving family includes his wife Clara Finster. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Melville Finster, and an infant daughter, Judy Rae Finster, and Sisters Jenny Britton and Gladys Smith. Funeral Services for Rex will be Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 1 PM at the Lenz &Betz Funeral home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Rev. Zach Labaugh will officiate. Family and friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the funeral service, starting at 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's and St. Mark's Church. Interment will be held at a later date in Ft. Plain Cemetery.
