Obituary of Grace Rossi

Grace Timpani Rossi, 86, of Division Street, passed away peacefully one minute after her birthday on Friday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital with her loving family at her side. She joined her beloved husband of fifty- four years, Joseph, who passed away last Sunday, January 23rd. Grace was born January 27, 1925 in Amsterdam, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Rocco and Dawnmarie Ciotto Timpani. She was a life long resident and attended local schools. For twenty years she was employed by the Miller?s Men?s & Boy?s Store in Amsterdam as a seamstress until retiring in 1990.Grace was a parishioner of the former St. Michael The Archangel Church in Amsterdam. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. On May 25, 1956 she married the former Joseph J. Rossi, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia R. Izzano and her husband David of Broadalbin; four grandchildren, Joseph D. Izzano and his wife Nicole of Cochecton, NY, Michael Izzano of Amsterdam, Christopher Izzano and Nicholas Izzano, both of Broadalbin, and nieces and nephews. A joint funeral service for Grace and her husband Joseph will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:15 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Military honors will take place for Joseph at the church. Calling hours will be held one hour prior on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Grace?s and Joseph?s memory to a charity of ones choice.
